A randomized controlled trial has demonstrated clinically meaningful improvements in motor recovery for chronic stroke survivors using the FDA-cleared IpsiHand® brain-computer interface system.
In the study, patients using the noninvasive, at-home BCI therapy experienced significantly greater gains in upper extremity function compared to those performing standard home exercises — with more than half achieving meaningful improvement. The findings challenge the long-standing belief that recovery plateaus months after stroke and highlight the potential of brain-computer interface technologies to drive functional restoration years later.
